She can still operate it when I install the supports on the barrel though and lays down to fire. So I would for sure stick with a kid more in the 11+ range for simple size to operate. That being said this is fun for all of us really. The first day I got it all together and we were out setting up targets and taking turns knocking them down. Of course the scope really isn't much of anything but it's easy enough to sight down the barrel to find your mark. Within a couple rounds we had all dialed it in. The chamber and fire motion is really nice and I wasn't expecting it to really rack and discharge as well as it does. It's a pretty good build quality, we've done 200+ round through it without any real issues. The only time there has been a problem is if you didn't set the dart deep enough in the shell casing. The gun is true to life size so probably not for little hands, but for 9-10 year olds you want to learn safe gun practice, this is awesome. The foam darts load into the \"shell\" and clip easily as well which is always a draw back of many similar toys. The toy gun has plenty of pop too! The foam darts fly up to about 60-70 feet no problem and the accuracy is incredible.
