My Son became annoyed with it because the pieces are difficult to align properly and you have to use a little bit of force and with that you run the risk of bending the flimsy plastic pieces. It was time-consuming and frustrating to try and complete the build, once built, the cars don't even move as smoothly as advertised, they get stuck and don't roll like they're supposed to. I like the idea of a buildable track that could be added to but I find the construction of this one lacking at best. One of the biggest issues is that the track pieces do not lock together besides where the track rails meet. This causes the track itself to warp and doesn't provide a smooth surface to run the cars on. As for the cars, one was assembled incorrectly and I had to play with the geared axle to get it to engage with the motor. The trench running down the track which holds the guide pin changes in width dramatically from track piece to track piece, causing the cars to get stuck constantly. Even after I was able to fix these issues the best I could the lap counter doesn't engage so for one of the cars you would have to push it over the counter each lap. The blocks are universal and can be combined with other brands. I like that the Race car controllers can be adjusted to restrict speed for the younger kids. The instructions are detailed and thorough. The track pieces are difficult to fit together. I used a small rubber mallet, which made it easier. I had to be very careful when connecting the track pieces to make sure they would line up. It really bowled me over, and I still play with it from time to time.  All it had was 2 cars, some track, controllers and power supply, but it was Heaven for me!  THIS set is even better!  My old set is HO gauge, and this one is even a smaller gauge (size).  And this set has everything I would have wanted way back when!  It has structures, trees, and lots of other accessories.  And of course the obligatory controllers, power supply and tiny little cars that GO!  I love everything about this slot car set, no question.  This set is very much over the top.  De-luxe!  And best of all, the set IS expandable.  Start small and grow!  That's what I did. But I did find a few problems. 1. It's super hard to get the pieces flushed with each other. It takes a lot of force and if you're not careful, it can bend. 2. Some of the metal track pieces where they co into a new square isn't even or wont let the car sit flush. It makes the car not want to move and you have to move it manually just an inch so it can start working again. 3. This toy combines fast moving shot cars with building blocks. The slot cars are really small. The tracks they run though is building block plates with area to build items on top. Because of this, the track is only 1 level, unlike traditional slot car sets that may contain a loop or a bridge. Small tradeoff in my opinion for more imaginative play. You get two cars and two remote. No mini-figures are included. The power source that connects to the track can be connected to a portable battery pack, AA batteries, or  a 5V 1A ac adapter (not included). This is also a very giftable item. The box is very beautiful with pictures of the product, not just a plain brown box.
