We wanted to replace it with a (hopefully) better set and this is definitely it! It didn't take my husband long to assemble and get it set up and both of our kids just love it. The light up cars makes our very young daughter crack up and our older son loves to play with it. As parents, we of course love anything that entertains our kids without a screen. He was raucously laughing and so engaged the whole time we played for about the first hour. The track assembly went well, but some parts are not that great, as others have noted. The guardrails don't help much, the braces are a little lame. The cars are great, though, and it has ac and battery options. This is an introduction to the slot car world with a lot of included action for not too high of a price. I think it's a good set as a gift that will help generations spend time together. It will take a bit of guidance for younger kids to get the hang of it without failing a lot, at least in my opinion. The key is use the thumb trigger, have the set-screw all the way screwed in, and find the spots you can boost in safely. This is right before the loop, especially. I used to have a slot car racing set when I was a kid and I loved playing with it. The grandkids couldn\u2019t wait for me to get it setup for them and they really enjoyed playing with this set. Everything component wise worked well.  The cars all worked and the lights on them worked as well. The race track pieces all fit together and seemed to allow for adequate flow of electricity to power each car. The kids loved the loops and often tried to get the cars to hang upside down. You could easily run two cars for each slot on the track which was fun. We actually tried all four cars and it ran that as well but I\u2019m sure it is not suggested to do that. There were a couple of items I did not like about this set. The guard rails are useless. They use a flimsy cardboard cutout mounted on these clips that don\u2019t hold well. When a car hits the rail it pushes out the cardboard insert. Most other sets have a full plastic guardrail that seems to work much better.  Also, the instructions show a tunnel that was never included with this set. It too looked like a cardboard pop-out which would not hold up well to kids playing with it. The cars kept flying off the track and the kids were becoming very frustrated with that,  The instructions didn\u2019t mention this but there is a thumb screw at the bottom of the controller you can turn to regulate speed. There are just a few parts to pop into place/the big activity is designing a track. The cars just sit on the track and just like when I was a kid-leads under the car-connect with the shiny part of the track and zoom! The fun still lies in going fast enough to fly off the track! This track is great-the kids definitely needed adult support for set up but, they handle the controllers easily. Glad we ordered!", "profile_name": "B.
