This is it!  He loves it!  It was a great togetherness project for him and his father to set up together and play with.  The controls handle nicely.  It allows for a slight change to the traditional set up if you want to try something different, but if he sticks with it, purchasing additional tracks and accessories would be nice.  I love that the toy demands time and effort to learn how to best run the cars.  It's challenging but rewarding.  I had a race track with my siblings when I was a kid, and we would play, and race each other for hours.
