We have lost several of the bullets over time - mom and dad are not complaining :-) The plastic is durable but light weight. Realistic look and even comes with a scope. This would make a great gift and can be used to teach about gun safety and proper handling of a weapon. It's pretty close to the real deal. It's well made and easy to assemble. The scope is basically just for show, realistically why would you even need a scope for the limited range of this anyway. It's fun to play around with and pretty much offers the same experience as far as functionality with the real thing. You get to make up your own rounds, and they discharge from the rifle just like the real thing. I keep a couple of toys like these around, and when my nephews come over, it keeps them occupied for quite a while.
