It comes with cartridges that you load the bullets in and when you shoot it, the casings eject out the side of the gun. They find it super fun but the reloading is a bit tedious. These bullets have suction cup tips, which allow them to stick to targets and walls. My kids love the look of this as a rifle. And enjoy playing with it, with and without the bullets. It should be noted that these are not compatible with Nerf bullets, and I gave it four stars only because I now have to pick up bullets AND casings from all over my house. The ejected spent shells are a really unique feature and give it the feel of authenticity.  The safety switch clicks on and off and is a true safety, good for teaching.  The power is fair and projects rounds as far as other similar toy guns but it lacks accuracy.  You have to aim a foot or two high to hit a target at 20 feet. Also it is a big gun. Long and not easy to run around the playground with.  Made for stationary shooting, the bipod is nice but the scope is worthless.
